Mel Ott Signed Handwritten Letter
Six-time home run champion Mel Ott was one of the most feared sluggers in baseball history. The lifetime New York Giant composed this letter from New York's Harkness Pavilion around May 15, 1950, long after his playing and managing careers were over. He addressed it to someone named Faith - probably a nurse - asking her to let him know if she encountered any "real good young ballplayers in Portland." He adds: "your aunt has been taking fine care of our cripples. Best of luck, Mel Ott." The writing and signature grade 8/10 in blue ink, and there are typical mailing folds. The letter itself is VG. Comes with an LOA.
