Michael Jordan Single Signed Baseball (PSA)

Michael Jordan Single Signed Baseball (PSA)

"With 1,500 at-bats, he [Jordan] would've found a way to get to the major leagues," said Terry Francona, Michael Jordan's manager in the minor leagues. Offered is a single-signed Michael Jordan baseball, signed by the consensus pro basketball GOAT who "retired" from basketball in October 1993 to pursue a career in baseball. When Jordan first retired from basketball, the sports world was stunned. He was at his basketball peak, and he had recently led the Chicago Bulls to three consecutive NBA Championships, in which he was the NBA Finals MVP all three seasons. In a later interview with ESPN, Jordan said at the time of his deciding to play baseball that he was saddened by the death of his father, murdered months earlier. Jordan further said that before his father's demise that Jordan's father had encouraged Michael to pursue his dream of playing baseball. Jordan signed with the Chicago White Sox, owned by Chicago Bulls' owner Jerry Reinsdorf. An outfielder, Jordan struggled at the White Sox Double-A affiliate, the Birmingham Barons. Michael hit only .202, with three home runs in 127 games with Birmingham, but he did steal 30 bases. Former Birmingham Barons' hitting coach Mike Barrett told ESPN that, "Two more seasons, he would have been a legit extra outfielder for the White Sox, maybe even a starter." Of course, Jordan did return to the NBA in 1994-95, for 17 games, and a full season in 1995-96. In 1995-96 through 1997-98, he again led the Chicago Bulls to a Three-peat NBA Championship, and eventually his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Jordan signed with a ballpoint pen on the sweet spot of the Official American League Ball (Bobby Brown). The baseball has a few small minor stains and smudges, but overall, the ball is in excellent condition. The baseball comes with a PSA LOA. A sports collection will definitely be enhanced by this unusual cross-sport addition: The signature of basketball marvel Michael Jordan on a single-signed baseball.
