Michael Phelps 2008 Olympics Swimsuit
This is the actual Speedo swimsuit presented to Michael Phelps for use in the historic 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Consigned directly by his Olympian teammate, it will come with a letter of authenticity from his roommate for the Games, Scott Spann. It was one of three given to Phelps for use in the Games. Normally each swimmer was issued two suits but Phelps was given three because of the unusual number of events in his schedule. It is unknown to us which in any of the events this was used in as all the suits are identical. The suit itself is important. Known as the LZR Racer, this specialised swimming suit was developed by NASA and the Australian Institute of Sport. 65 Olympic and 25 World Records were broken in these Games due to the success of the suits. It was signed in red marker by "Michael Phelps" the night he won his record 8th Gold Medal (surpassing Mark Spitz) right in their living quarters. An amazing piece of Olympic and sports history certainly for the ages.
