Mickey Cochrane Signed Photograph (PSA)
Displayed is a signed Mickey Cochrane vintage snapshot photo. Gordon "Mickey" Cochrane was a Hall of Fame catcher who played for the Philadelphia Athletics (1925-33) and the Detroit Tigers (1934-37). Cochrane also managed the Detroit Tigers (1934-37). Cochrane hit .320 over his career, and he was the American League MVP in both 1928 and 1934. Cochrane was hit in the head on May 27, 1937, with a pitch from New York Yankees hurler Bump Hadley, and Cochrane was hospitalized for seven days and instructed not to play baseball again, and his playing career ended when he was only 34 years old. He was on three World Champion teams, and on the 1935 Detroit Tigers World Series Champions he was also the manager. Mickey Mantle's father admired Cochrane so much that he named his son, the Hall of Fame Yankee center fielder, after the great catcher. The signed photo, in 7/10 blue ink, measures approx. 2.25x3". The photo shows some slight fading, but overall, the photo is in excellent condition. The photo has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
