Mickey Mantle 1955 N.Y. Yankees Tour of Japan Program
Now batting...Mikko-San Mantle! However the Mick was introduced during the Yankees' 1955 tour of Japan, the reaction was the same in Tokyo as in the Bronx: sheer adulation. No wonder the ever-boyish-looking Mantle was the cover boy of the tour program (the cover being the back end) with his sleeves rolled up for business and his bat poised menacingly on his right shoulder against a sky-blue background. Loads of photos including Stengel on page one and Ford, Berra, Bauer, Skowron, Larsen, etc. sprinkled through the pages with Japanese ads. Oversized (8 x 11.5") program is VG w/scattered scratches on the cover and very nice inside pages.
