Mickey Mantle "410/536" Single-Signed Baseball (PSA NM+ 7.5 Overall)
Mickey Mantle was once asked if he ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. The Hall of Fame center fielder answered, "Only every time." Mickey's go-for-broke swings paid off, as with 536 home runs, he hit more round-trippers than any other switch-hitter in history. Presented is an opportunity to possess a Mickey Mantle single-signed baseball with a "410/536" inscription. Mantle was a 3-time American League MVP, the winner of a Triple Crown, a 20-time All-Star and a member of seven World Championship teams. In 1961, Mantle and Roger Maris formed a two-pronged race to beat Babe Ruth's single-season home run record of 60, with an abscessed hip slowing Mantle and leaving him at 54 homers. Using blue ink from a ballpoint pen, Mantle signed the Official American League Ball (Brown) on the sweet spot and used the same type of pen to inscribe "410/536" below his signature, also on the sweet spot. Mantle's signature and inscription display his famed model penmanship. This signature and inscription are from a limited edition of 536 balls (matching his total number of homers) that Mantle signed. Mantle's inscription of 410/536 indicates that this ball was number 410 of the total of 536. The ball comes with a full PSA Letter of Grading and Authenticity that grades the ball as "7" and the ball graded as "8 for an overall grade of "7.5."
