Mickey Mantle Day Photographs (10) (PSA Type I)
Assortment of 10 Type I photographs, all dating from June 8, 1969, forever known in the Bronx as Mickey Mantle day. Each of the crisp 8x10" photos captures an image of the Commerce Comet from various points in that day, including several from the on-field ceremonies and all have a blank back except for one, which has a wire service caption affixed. Some great behind-the-scenes looks as New York and the entire baseball world paid tribute to the man widely considered to be the best switch-hitter in baseball history. Also included in this lot is a "program" from the day, with the cover reading, "A Day To Remember" with the four-page 8x10" foldout opening to display an image of a uniformed Mantle on one side, and the other quoting him with "My thanks to you all" along with a replica signature. Each photo is encapsulated by PSA as Type I Authentic.
