Mickey Mantle First NY Yankees Game Ever Ticket Stub (PSA VG-EX 4)

Mickey Mantle First NY Yankees Game Ever Ticket Stub (PSA VG-EX 4)

The historic September 17, 1950, game between the New York Yankees and St. Louis Browns at Sportsman's Park saw future legend Mickey Mantle summoned from the minors, wearing a Yankee uniform for first time in his storied career. This is the earliest known Mickey Mantle associated ticket stub extant. Although he rode the bench for the remaining few days of the season, the 18-year-old Joplin-ite nevertheless traveled, took batting practice and rubbed shoulders with idols DiMaggio, Berra, & more. To quote his former partner in crime Whitey Ford, "I remember Mantle joining us in St. Louis, and that was the first time I ever saw him. I didn't meet him. He was so shy, he didn't talk to anybody... But I remember him and Moose (Skowron) taking batting practice with us before the game, and they put on a great show of power."
