Mickey Mantle "Week of Dreams" Signed Postcard Collection (10)
Offered is a signed "Mickey Mantle's Week of Dreams" postcard collection (10). In his baseball retirement, Mickey Mantle gave his name and time to a baseball camp that carried his name. The fantasy camp was attended by mostly middle-aged men who were thrilled to be in the presence of the former New York Yankee stars who were their coaches and instructors. Some of these Yankees were: Whitey Ford, Hank Bauer, Moose Skowron, Johnny Blanchard, and Jake Gibbs. In his Major League career, Mantle played 19 seasons, all with the New York Yankees. He was a 3-time American league MVP, a Triple Crown winner, a 20-time All-Star, a member of seven World Champion Yankee squads, and, with 536 home runs, he is the most prolific switch-hitting home run hitter in history. Each of the ten 4x7.25" postcards has a colorful image of Mantle, his foot on the dugout step at Yankee Stadium. The back of the postcard has a very detailed Mantle biography, and a detailed statistical section. When Mantle was a youth, he worked in various capacities for a mining company in Oklahoma. On occasion, Mickey would sit in the mining company office and practice signing his name, over-and-over, in an effort to perfect his penmanship. Those efforts are readily apparent in Mantle's beautiful signature on each of the postcards. Using a marker, Mantle signed each card in black ink. Each flowing signature is an exemplar to superb penmanship. The signed postcards have great eye appeal and make a valued Mantle remembrance.
