Moe Berg spent 15 relatively unspectacular years as a big-league backstop, but it was what he did outside the lines that distinguished him from his colleagues. During World War II, the New Jersey native served as an American spy for the Office of Strategic Services. A graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School, Berg spoke several languages, read 10 newspapers a day and was clearly no "dumb jock." He traveled to various countries in his government capacity, making him one of the most notable figures of the 20th Century. This rare, official American League (Harridge) baseball is EX-MT plus with Berg's signature in blue ink on the sweet spot rating an 8 out of 10. As one might expect, only a few of these specimens exist, and this has to be one of the nicest. PSA LOA
