The red brick from the original Hall of Fame is the least impressive element of this lot, which features an absolutely striking display in a "home plate shaped" box. The accompanying plaque says it all: "THE NATIONAL HALL OF FAME MUSEUM AND MUSEUM DEDICATED JUNE 12, 1939 COOPERSTOWN, NEW YORK PRESENTED TO RED SCHOENDIENST WHOSE HALL OF FAME PLAQUE, SYMBOLIZING HIS GREATNESS AS A PLAYER, WAS DEDICATED IN 1939. THIS BRICK IS FROM THE ORIGINAL BUILDING AND WAS PRESERVED DURING THE HALL OF FAME'S 2002-2005 RENOVATION." It comes with a black-and-white 8" x 10" photo from the grand opening and paperwork from the Hall of Fame, including a personalized letter from the museum president, Dale Petroskey.
