Nellie Fox, the Chicago White Sox second baseman, making his 4th of 11 straight All-Star game appearances, heroically ended the highest scoring All-Star game in history by hitting a two-run single into center field, ending the National League’s 4-year winning streak with an 11-9 win for the American League. This Official A.L. (Harridge) baseball was owned by Hall of Famer Fox, and obtained directly from his family. In Nellie’s hand, “54/A.S.'' is penned just below Bob Lemon’s autograph.
