New York Rangers First Year & First African-American Player Photographs (2)
Two gorgeous photographs of great historical importance, including the inaugural year of the New York Rangers and the first African-American player to sign an NHL contract. 1) Rangers team photo from the 1926-27 season measuring 8x10" with a handwritten roster on back, featuring Frank Boucher and Lester Patrick. Also on the back is a Cosmo Photo Service stamp. The photo is EX-MT with no creasing. 2) Circa 1951 team photo of the Atlantic City Sea Gulls featuring the first African-American to sign an NHL contract, Art Dorrington. Though he signed with the Rangers in 1950, Dorrington never played in the NHL despite success in the minors. The photo also measures 8x10".
