Generations of commuter crowds fighting their way through Grand Central Station had the comforting sight of this sign that hung on the Yankee ticket office there, no doubt creating nicely distracting thoughts of spending lazy summer afternoons watching the Mick at the ballpark, many of them passed on the Harlem Line every day en route to Westchester. One of those bygone sights from a more innocent time, the nostalgic sign was removed in the late '60s and is today a very rare, not to mention delightful, artifact. Beautiful light brown with white lettering reading "N.Y. Yankees Ticket Office" on the wood-fitted left and right sides bolted to the metal unit. Dimensions are approx. 33" x 5" x 3 1/2" with a supplemental metal piece along the top. The signage is virtually unblemished under a thin laminated coating. Mild white spotting/rusting on top and a bolt missing from one corner, easily replaceable -- much more so than those fading memories rekindled by this wonderful sign..
