Nolan Ryan Signed Stat New York Mets Jersey
Three all-time MLB statistics go a long way in explaining the career of amazing Hall of Fame right-hander Nolan Ryan: He holds the all-time MLB records for: strikeouts (5,795); walks (5,714), and Hits Per Nine Innings (6.6). Those stats reveal that Ryan had tremendous stuff, often didn't throw the ball where he wanted, and threw such a great fastball and curve that even when batters connected, they seldom got a hit. The aforementioned statistics translated to 324 lifetime wins, 292 career losses, and 27 years as a pitcher for four teams: New York Mets (1966 & 1968-71), California Angels (1972-79), Houston Astros (1980-88), Texas Rangers (1988-93). Many baseball fans watched Ryan pitch whenever they could, because one never knew when Nolan would throw a no-hitter. He threw an incredible seven of them - another all-time MLB record. Ryan feels that his ability to throw so hard and for so long (he pitched his last season at 46-years-old) was not something he developed: "My ability to throw a baseball was a gift. A God-given gift," said the flame-thrower. The offered Ryan signed and inscribed jersey is a visual treat: A white, home New York Mets pinstriped jersey, with vivid blue and orange lettering and numerals. The front displays "Mets" in script in sewn-on blue letters with orange trim. Below the team's name is "30," in sewn-on blue numerals with orange trim. On the left shoulder is a sewn-on blue, orange and white Mets logo patch. The MLB 100th Anniversary patch is sewn-on the right shoulder. On the lower outside left waist is a Cooperstown Collection/MLB/ Mitchell & Ness manufacturer's tag. A wash tag on the lower inside rear waist that shows the jersey to be 65% acrylic and 35% cotton. On the back is "30," in sewn-on blue numerals with orange trim. Ryan signed and inscribed the jersey on the right chest, writing with a blue marker: "5714 Strikeouts/324 Wins/7 No-hitters/Nolan Ryan #7." Ryan's handwriting is neat, big and bold. The jersey has a few, very small stains and is in overall excellent condition, and it makes an enticing showpiece for any collection.
