November 10, 1961 Ticket

"Jiving to Merseysides Top Five Groups" was promised to those in attendance at the first of five "Operation Big Beat" extravaganzas staged by promoter and longtime Beatles supporter, Sam Leach. More than 3000 fans jammed the Tower Ballroom to watch each group perform twice at the nearly six hour event. This was the group's first appearance after meeting future manager, Brian Epstein, who had come to see them for the first time at the Cavern a day earlier, arguably the most important day in both of their lives. The ticket's scalloped edges were a trademark characteristic of Seaview Press, the Liverpool printer responsible for producing tickets and promotional materials for many venues during the 1960's. Creased with a name, address, and the word "Dingle" (a reference to a working class Liverpool neighborhood), written in ink on reverse. 4 ?"x3 ?".
