One of the Last Baseballs Ever Signed by Ty Cobb

One of the Last Baseballs Ever Signed by Ty Cobb

Official National League (Giles) baseball has a great history and is believed to be one of the last balls that Ty Cobb ever signed. Signed "To Henry Mehre From His Friend Ty Cobb 6/23/61" in Cobb‚s standard green ink, this ball was signed less than one month before his death. In late June of 1961 Cobb checked in to the hospital and was there until his death; this has to be one of the last balls Cobb ever handled/signed.Mehre cherished this ball until 1963 when he gifted it to his friend and documented the transaction, once again in green ink and dated it "8/26/63."Ultimately, the ball traded hands once more and ended up with our consignor who had Pete Rose sign on another panel. This remarkable ball is very clean and presents a strong EX-MT to NRMT with strong labeling; positioned correctly, this memento presents as single-signed. Ty Cobb signature and writing is 7.5/10.
