Opening Day 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers Ebbets Field Full Ticket Proof PSA EX 5 (Only Known Example)
<p>Presented is a Brooklyn Dodgers Opening Day ticket to Ebbets Field for the Dodgers' game against the visiting, and arch rival, New York Giants. The game was played on April 15th, before 31,604 fans. New York won the contest, 6-4. Dodgers starting pitcher Whit Wyatt took the loss and Giants reliever Ace Adams got the win. Hall of Famer Mel Ott had two hits and a run scored for the Giants. Hall of Famers Pee Wee Reese, Paul Waner, and Joe "Ducky" Medwick played for Brooklyn, with Reese scoring a run, Waner having a RBI, and Medwick getting two hits and a run scored. Hall of Fame manager Leo Durocher managed the Dodgers, and though he was then a playing manager, he did not play. The Dodgers went 100-54-3 that season, finishing first in the National League, but they lost 4-1 in games to the New York Yankees in the World Series. The full ticket makes a very unusual keepsake. It measures approx. 6.25" at its tallest and approx. 2.6" at its widest. At the top of the ticket is the image of a catcher, and in letters printed on the catcher's chest protector is "Opening Day 1941." On the top sides of the above image is printed "Brooklyn Dodgers" and "Ebbets Field." The ticket was not valid for admission as it was most likely a sample ticket, and the $1.65 Lower Stand ducat has been punch-stamped as "VOID" on the top and the bottom. The full ticket has been encapsulated and graded PSA EX 5.</p>
