Original 1939 Baseball Centennial Uniform Patch

Original 1939 Baseball Centennial Uniform Patch

Although debunked by historians, legend holds that baseball was invented in 1839 by Cooperstown, NY resident Abner Doubleday. This Baseball Centennial patch celebrates the 100th anniversary of this mythical date. It features a red and white striped background, with a blue and white baseball diamond containing a player within the circle of a baseball at its center. The bottom reads “baseball Centennial” in red and blue, and the upper left and right corners read “1839” and “1939”, respectively. The patch does not appear to ever have been attached to a jersey.
