Original Artwork Used For Gordie Howe's Hockey Hall of Fame Plaque

This portrait of NHL great Gordie Howe was created by noted Canadian artist and official Hockey Hall of Fame portrait artist Irma Coucill. It is a charcoal pencil on board rendition of Howe, crafted in 1965, signed by the artist and commissioned by the Toronto Star in March of that year. The image was used for several Howe endorsements, including an advertising display for the Toronto Star, which is included in this lot. The portrait measures 16x22" including frame and matting and is in excellent condition, while the ad display measures 19x11" and is in very good condition. Includes certificate of authenticity.
