Original Charles Dana Gibson Drawing of Evelyn Nesbit
Nostalgiac original sketch by Charles Dana Gibson. Although he is most famous for his creation, “Gibson Girl”, this pen and ink is equally as significant, as Gibson’s most famous rendering of the tragic Evelyn Nesbit, entitled, “The Eternal Question”, featured her hair flowing downward in the shape of a question mark. During the Victorian period, illustrators for popular magazines had as much influence on the way people acted and dressed as movies and television do today. And an original pen and ink, like this one of Evelyn Nesbit was an inspiration to any who gazed upon it. Some light paper loss (1.5” section) just to the right of her cheek, otherwise Excellent condition. Framed to 14x18”.
