Original Howdy Doody Design by Milt Neil (13)

Original Howdy Doody Design by Milt Neil (13)

Thirteen important drawings by Milt Neil the “Official Artist” of The Howdy Doody Show. This first drawing offered is wonderful! When the Velma Dawson Howdy arrived from California, Rhoda Mann, “Howdy’s Handler” at the time, thought him slightly awkward to her own puppeteering. A plan was devised to make Howdy more maneuverable and have Milt depict these thoughts. This 1948 drawing is the full-scale design that Scott Brinker used to reconstruct the original Howdy’s body. Although it has folds, tears and tape, this 19x33” original is historically revealing. Plus, there are 12 drawings for the “new” puppet designs for the 1970’s revival TV show. Sizes are about 25x30” and include drawings of Dilly Dally, three drawings of Howdy, four Bluster, three of The Flub-A-Dub and three of Mildew Mossback. All are marvelous originals from the pen of Milt Neil!
