Original Secretariat Horseshoe with Excellent Documentation
Straight from the horse's mouth, er, hoof, comes this enticing, framed and matted display that commemorates the achievements of Triple Crown winner Secretariat. The horseshoe worn by the celebrated thoroughbred is mounted at the top, with a drawing of the horse directly underneath. There is a letter from Floyd C. Sager of Paris, Kentucky describing the shoe from Secretariat's right fore foot. There is also a caption at the bottom which reads: "SECRETARIAT, FOALED AT THE MEADOW STUD, IN VIRGINIA, A FOAL OF 1970. HE IS BY BOLD RULER OUT OF SOMETHINGROYAL BY *PRINCEQUILLO. HE WON $1,316,808 DURING HIS RACING CAREER. HE WAS CHAMPION TWO YEAR OLD COLT AND HORSE OF THE YEAR AT 2. HE WAS SYNDICATED AS A TWO YEAR OLD FOR $6,080,000. HE WENT ON TO WIN THE TRIPLE CROWN AND WAS VOTED CHAMPION THREE YEARS OLD, BEST GRASS COURSE RUNNER OF THE YEAR AND HORSE OF THE YEAR AT 3. HE ENTER (sic) THE STUD AT CLAIBORNE IN 1974. HIS STUD FEE IS $40,000." The framed piece measures 16.5" x 34" and a 1973 Kentucky Derby article appears on the back. The entire display is in NM condition.
