Original Snoopy Hockey Drawing by Charles Schulz (PSA)

Original Snoopy Hockey Drawing by Charles Schulz (PSA)

If you're a fan of the iconic comic strip Peanuts, a fan of hockey, or both, what could be better than this original autographed cartoon of Snoopy - the human-like dog in the series - happily carrying his hockey stick? Schulz grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a hockey hotbed, so his interest in hockey comes naturally. Schulz was already drawing cartoons in high school, and he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, and he later was a part of the American march on Munich, and he helped to liberate the concentration camp at Dachau. After the war, he became a full-time cartoonist, and his comic strip Peanuts debuted in 1950. The pet dog Snoopy had, as one of his alter egos, the character of "The World Famous Hockey Player". From time to time, Snoopy would appear as a hockey player on his doghouse, or in the outside bathtub, or even as a hockey goalie and a coach. The offered cartoon is drawn by black pen on thin cardstock that measure approximately 5" x 6.9". The cartoon is inscribed "To Pam (?) and Tom" and it is signed by Schulz at the bottom. Schulz maintained a life-long interest in hockey, and he was a longtime friend of Tommy Woodcock (the "Tom" on the card's inscription), a long-time NHL trainer who is in the Trainers' Wing of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Woodcock was involved with the NHL for 37 years and spent 17 years as the trainer for the St. Louis Blues. The signed cartoon is in good condition, and it makes an outstanding addition to any collection of memorabilia, and it will be certain to create interest in all who view this original artwork from one of the most famous, and beloved cartoonists in American history.
