Full-scale rendering of a yet to be born Howdy Doody, from the artist’s own hand, was used by Velma Dawson to finalize our little wooden boy. With red pencil stress marks, this 12.5x30” penciled plan gave life to more than just a marionette. It spurred big business, provided countless employment, affected generations and launched an icon with a face that is known throughout the world. Although it is folded in quarters and has small age tears along the edges, the Historical ramifications of this humble drawing are beyond words. Originally from the Collection of Mrs. Dawson and personally artist signed by her in pencil.
