Outstanding Satchel Paige Single-Signed Baseball w/Tremendous Provenance (PSA)

Outstanding Satchel Paige Single-Signed Baseball w/Tremendous Provenance (PSA)

Perhaps the greatest pitcher of all time, Satchel Paige dazzled crowds across the country for decades with his prowess on the mound. Despite his supreme talent, he wasn't given a chance to pitch in the Major Leagues until 1948 at the age of 42, when he promptly went 6-1 with a 2.48 ERA. A few years later, his advanced age didn't stop him from being named an All-Star for the St. Louis Browns in both 1952 and 1953. His mythic status got another boost more than a decade later when he signed with the Kansas City Athletics in 1965 and pitched in one game for the team at age 58, allowing no runs over three innings of work. The provenance of this ball sources from the bat-boy of a Salina District Baseball team in Salina, Kansas; who's father sponsored the team and hired Satchel to pitch for the team in 1960. The signature was obtained by the bat boy himself and even added in a program for a 1960 Salina District Semi-Pro baseball tournament held July 1-5. A small original photograph of Satchel wearing a Salina uniform is also included. Well into his 50s, Paige was still a force to be reckoned with on the mound. The Accelerated Rawlings Official baseball is signed right on the sweet spot by Paige with a beautiful 8/10 signature. The ball is NM and comes with a program and Polaroid. This is a fantastic display item signed by one of baseball's biggest icons, who during his prime was unjustly denied the opportunity to showcase his immense talent on the game's biggest stage. Comes certified by PSA.
