Pair of Mint Roger Maris Signed Photographs (PSA Graded 9 & 10)
Circa 1961. Two Roger Maris signed photographs. Maris reached the pinnacle of fame when he challenged Mickey Mantle in 1961 in an attempt to break Babe Ruth's all-time one-season mark of 60 home runs. Maris and Mantle were neck-and-neck when an injury to Mantle left Maris as the lone challenger, and Maris hit his 61st on the last day of the season against Tracy Stallard and the Red Sox. 1) Maris leaning against the batting cage at what appears to be the original Yankee Stadium. Signature on bat in photo, in blue felt tipped pen. Bold, neat script. Matted and framed at 12x14". 2) Maris in an away uniform. Smiling visage, unusual after the adulation and abuse he experienced as he became a rival to Mantle and Babe Ruth for the single-season homer record. Signed in blue felt tip marker in clear, bold script. Both photos are 8x10". Signatures on each photo rate 10/10. Both graded by PSA one being a 9, the other a 10. Comes with LOAs.
