Penny Chenery Tweedy's Personal Preakness Reserved Ticket from Secretariat's Triple Crown Win (Chenery Provenance)

Penny Chenery Tweedy's Personal Preakness Reserved Ticket from Secretariat's Triple Crown Win (Chenery Provenance)

Mrs. Penny Tweedy, sitting in seat 3 of box A1 in Pimlico's grandstand, looked on as her homebred, Secretariat, won the 1973 Preakness Stakes - racing's 2nd jewel of the Triple Crown. Box A1 of the Pimlico grandstand is the most coveted in that its reserved for the winning owner of the Kentucky Derby. Mrs. Tweedy's Secretariat dispatched rival Sham, in, what would later officially be recognized, 1:53, a track record by one full second. Ms. Penny Chenery (formerly Ms. Tweedy) consigned this, the actual ticket she used to gain access to her seat, to Sotheby's in 1999 and their certificate of ownership is included.
