Phil Rizzuto 1939 K.C. Blues Glass Beaded Presentational Pennant
Intricately beaded championship pennant given to The Scooter when the Kansas City Blues copped the 1939 American Association title. Rizzuto, playing a long way from his native Brooklyn on the Yankees' top minor league team (joined by other future big leaguers Vince DiMaggio and Johnny Sturm) would of course go on to a HOF career. The 15" felt pennant has been adorned by hundreds of interwoven beads, the tan ones a backdrop for purple ones spelling out "Kansas City Blues, American Association" with "19" above and "39" below. Only damage is a slight tear on the top right tip and loose threads on the back, o/w NRMT. Lore states that this originally belonged to Rizzuto.
