Philadelphia Flyers Campell Cup Confrence Champions Banner Hung In The Spectrum
This is a really rare, colorful, large (measures approx. 7'5" x 11' 7") Philadelphia Flyers canvas banner than hung in the Spectrum, the former home of the Flyers in Philadelphia. The background is orange, and the lettering and numbering are done in black. The banner reads, "Campbell Conference Champions 1974-75 1975-76 1977-77 1979-08". Underneath is the orange, black and white Flyers' logo. The years on the flag were a part of the Flyers' glory years. The team won the Stanley Cup in 1974-75, and during the Campbell Conference Championship run indicated on the banner, the Flyers had the following personnel for all or at least the key years, of the run: Coach Fred Shero (HOF as a builder), Captain and center Bobby Clarke HOF), center Rick MacLeish, left wings Bill Barber (HOF) and intimidating Dave Schultz, right wing Reggie Leach, and goalie Bernie Parent (HOF). These were the times when before a key game, the rumor that Kate Smith was in the Spectrum would float through the crowd. Sometimes the rumor was correct, and Kate would belt out an amazing rendition of God Bless America, the Spectrum would rock off its foundation, and it seemed that the Flyers would always win. This is a Spectrum banner from those days, and to unfurl this banner is to unfurl memories that will, for a time, turn back the clock.
