Pittsburgh Pirates Signed Pro Model Cap Collection w/Stargell (3)

Collection of three Pittsburgh Pirates pro-model caps, each signed on the underside of the brim by a different player. Our consignor originally obtained these caps with the understanding that they were game used, as all display light-to-moderate wear, but no other documentation or chain of provenance was provided. 1) Willie Stargell. Circa late 1960s solid-black New Era cap featuring an embroidered gold “P” on the front and a gold button. Size 7 3/8. Signed by Willie Stargell in blue ink (5/10). The brim displays two cracks and there is light wear to the headband. 2) Jim Bibby. Circa 1980 pillbox-style black New Era cap, with gold trim, featuring an embroidered gold “P” on the front and a gold button. Size 7 ½. Inscribed in black marker (4/10, bleeding) “Best Wishes Jim Bibby.” The number “26,” which was Bibby’s uniform number with the Pirates is written twice in black marker on the underside of the brim (the numbers overlap). Moderate wear, including soiling to the exterior and a slight crack in the brim. 3) Tony Pena. Circa early 1980s pillbox-style gold New Era cap, with black trim, featuring an embroidered black “P” on the front and a black button. Size 7 ¼. Signed Tony Pena in black ink (6/10). Light-to-moderate wear is displayed throughout.
