Polo Grounds Seat with Double Figural Sides
As part of one of sports' greatest rivalries, the Polo Grounds stood in Upper Manhattan, serving as the battle grounds for many a classic baseball contest against the crosstown Dodgers and Yankees. What legends of the sport were watched from this very stadium seat, which is made of original wood and metal with green paint that is chipped and flaking at spots. This treasure bears the all-important figural interlocking "NY" on both sides, indicating that the seat stood alone in its own aisle at the Polo Grounds. The plaque on the top slat has seat number "DD8" and it still presents wonderfully, considering that the stadium passed into history in 1964.
