Programs from Hollywood Park's 1938 Inaugural Season (30)
In addition to an archival binder, included are 23 individual race days of which four have 2 programs each and one, the Hollywood Derby won by Specify, with four. Ligaroti beat Whichcee in the July 4, American Handicap. Ligaroti a month later at Del Mar, ran in a match race against Seabiscuit, and lost by a nose in a controversial finish.Most programs have some or little writing except for one of the pair of June 23. Also, two of the four Hollywood Derby items (July 9), the July 14 edition, and the July 23 program featuring the Aloha won by Ligaroti.Each program is in excellent or better shape.
