Racing Programs (1880s & 1890s) From Different Famous American Racetracks (3)

Racing Programs (1880s & 1890s) From Different Famous American Racetracks (3)

1) MORRIS PARK - October 29, 1895. Jockey Reiff won three races and Doggett won the Bronx Stakes. Jockey Willie Simms won on Belmar who just four days later the combo won the Belmont Stakes. The Belmont that year was held on November 2, the latest by far the stakes was ever run. Program is unmarked. 2) WASHINGTON PARK - July 5, 1893. In the second race, Chant ran third but won next year’s Kentucky Derby & Clark Handicap. Jockey Taral won two. Program is unmarked. 3) BROOKLYN JOCKEY CLUB - September 13, 1886. Card notable as both McLaughlin & “Snapper” Garrison could muster only a 2nd and 3rd each. The other famous rider, Isaac Murphy, was out of the money with his only mount. Only pencil notations noting the first three finishers and the time. All programs are firm, important, extremely rare, and valuable. Condition is NRMT, especially given the age. Amazingly, two programs contain no writing and only limited pencil markings are evident on the other.
