Rare Early 1970s Jacques Plante Goalie's Mask

One of hockey's true innovators, Jacques Plante introduced the goalie mask to the game, becoming the first player to use it during regulation play. He even helped design the combination helmet/face mask combination used today. Offered here is what we believe to be some sort of prototype from his time with the St. Louis Blues back in the late 1960s. This was after the Hall of Famer had won six Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens in one decade. The mask was manufactured by Plante's company and has been in the possession of a Blues team employee for the last 50 years. The mask features a Cooper harness on the back and even shows some use, so it could have been something that Plante tried during game action, though that is not confirmed. "PLANTE" written in marker at the top edge of white, hard plastic mask. A one-of-a-kind treasure, for sure.
