His eclat was such that when he signed with the Bears after his final game at Illinois he was instantly the highest-paid player in the pros, making $3,000 and a cut of the gate for a Bears barnstorming tour in '26. He even wore a $500 raccoon coat. Photo is signed to a guy he called "my friend" in blue marker, the jaunty "'Red' Grange" autograph NRMT, as is the photo.
