Roger Maris & Mickey Mantle Beautiful Signed Photograph (Beckett 10 Autos)
Presented is a beautiful Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle signed color photograph. The photo, most likely taken during spring training in Florida during the 1960s, shows the Yankee sluggers posed before the background of a celestial looking high sky. Maris broke Babe Ruth's single season home run record of 60 when Roger hit 61 in 1961 after surging past his neck-and-neck competitor, the injured Mantle, in the season's final weeks. Hall of Famer Mantle, with his 536-career home runs, holds the all-time MLB record for round trippers by a switch-hitter. When Maris and Mantle were in their historic '61 home run race, news accounts portrayed the two Yankee stars as feuding enemies. Unknown to the press, Mantle and Maris were sharing the rental of a house in Queens, in New York City, and were getting along just fine as friends and hugely enjoying the rumors of their enmity. The striking photo has the signatures of Maris and Mantle, each autograph written in meticulous handwriting in blue marker. The signed photo comes with a Beckett Letter of Authenticity that grades each of the two signatures as a "10." The Beckett LOA also comes with an alphanumeric certification number. The back of the photo has the number "82" written in blue marker by an unknown hand. Both the photo and the signatures have terrific eye appeal, and the collectible should garner high interest.
