Roger Maris & Mickey Mantle Dual Autograph (PSA)
In 1961, the baseball world watched with rapt attention as both Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle, the "M and M Boys," chased Babe Ruth's single season home run record of sixty. A late season abscess forced Mantle to miss games, and he fell out of the chase, but Maris hit his 61st home run on the last day of the season to reach a record 61, so-called asterisk and all. Maris was a fine all-around player who could field, throw and run, but his 1961 season earned him immortality. Hall of Famer Mantle went on to hit a career 536 home runs. The autographs were both signed in blue pen on an 8.5x3" piece of paper that has been folded into approximately 3x4.25", the place on which the autographs are written. The paper does exhibit discoloration and also some minor tearing on the edges. The autograph paper comes encapsulated by PSA.
