Running and Rowing Photographs from SFX Archives (1000+)
Huge collection of running and rowing photos (1000+) from the archives of the San Francisco Examiner with running being approximately 75% of the entire collection. Images are all shapes and sizes up to 9" x 12" and varying states of condition from VG-NRMT with newspaper edit marks and enhancements on many. Under the rowing category, which encompasses about 20% of the collection, action include University of California competition from the 1950's thru the 1990's matching the Bears against rivals Wisconsin, Cornell, Stanford, Syracuse, Yale and Harvard. There are also University of Washington rowing photos from the 1960's. Under the running category there are images relating to the New York, Boston and San Francisco Marathons from the 60's thru the 90's as well as images from the Bay to Breakers and Dispea Races taking place in San Francisco in the 80's and 90's. There are also images relating to California Sand Sailing from the 40's thru the 60's and Scottish Games from the 70's thru 90's which account for 5% of the total grouping. A vast collection worthy of lots of exploration and discoveries.
