Satchel Paige Vintage Photographs from SFX Archives (13)
SF Examiner photos (13) of "Ole Satch" dating to the later part of his career from 1948 to 1966. Photos are mostly 8" x 10" and in EX condition. One of the 1948 photos depicts Paige on the mound in his Indians uniform with the caption "A rookie at the reputed age of 44...". Another image dating to 1951 is of Paige signing his contract with SL Browns owner Bill Veeck. A truly classic photo is of a 59 year old Paige, still in the pitching rotation and in his K.C. A's uniform, dispensing advice to a 19 year old Catfish Hunter sitting on Ole Satch's lap in the clubhouse. Great stuff!
