Scarce Single-Signed Baseballs from the Legendary Jim Armstrong Collection (27)

Scarce Single-Signed Baseballs from the Legendary Jim Armstrong Collection (27)

Offered is a collection of some very scarce single-signed baseballs, most from early collector Jim Armstrong, who was the first of the legendary sports autograph collectors going back into the 1930s. The reason that some of these are so scare is that 1) some subjects passed away a long time ago 2) some only played a year or two in the Major Leagues. Most are Official AL or NL balls that have a coat of shellac applied to preserve the signatures. The balls average VG while signatures are mostly 7-to-8/10. Highlights: Fred Fitzsimmons (d. 79), Harry Danning (d. 04), Hank Camelli (d. 96), Grover Land (d. 58), Joe "Doc" Evans (d. 53), Mel Harder (d. 02), Monty Kennedy (d. 92), Woody Jensen (d. 01), Bill McCahan (d. 86), Amos Strunk (d. 79), Sid Gordon (d. 75). Also included are Hall of Famers such as Paul Molitor and Leon Day, and scarce Negro Leaguer Sam Streeter (d. 85). A great selection.
