Very colorful pirate-themed lot, made up of 3 partial sets from the 1930’s:- 1933 World Wide Gum ‘Sea Raiders’ – group of 6 (3 Canadian, 3 U.S.) including # 9 (Jean Laffite, VG, creased, 19 (VG, mc), 23 (VG, rounded corners), 25 (EX+, corner crease), 31 (EX-MT, corner crease), and 43 (EX-MT).- 1930’s MJ Holloway & Co. ‘Pirate Treasure’ near set (47/48, missing #41 for completion). The set features colorful illustrations of pirate-related scenes along with narratives on the reverse about the pirates and their adventures. Virtually all the cards are NM or better and appear to have never been handled, just separated at perforations.- 1936 R109 Gum Inc. ‘Pirate‘s Picture Bubble Gum’ – partial set (50/72).Difficult to obtain in ANY condition, this group of Pirate’s Picture Bubble Gum offers a fine start to a nice collector grade set. 50 cards are included; 22 are missing (#’s 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 31, 32, 37, 42, 46, 47, 48, 55, 56, 57, 58, 68, 70 and 72, plus short-printed cards 9, 34 and 59) for completion. The cards grade 26% VG-EX, 24% VG, 20% GD-VG, 16% FR-GD and 10% lesser. Most cards have rounded corners and yellowed borders, but card colors remain clear and bright. If you tried to assemble this set yourself, it would take a great deal of time and patience to complete.
