Secretariat 1972 Garden State Program from Ron Turcotte

Secretariat 1972 Garden State Program from Ron Turcotte

From the private collection of Ron Turcotte and the Secretariat Archives. Considered one of the rarest and most difficult to find of all Secretariat Programs. Garden State racecourse is no longer in existence. With a $125,000 purse, the Garden State Stakes was the richest race run in America at the time. Secretariat's victory in the race secured his 1972 Horse of the Year status, unprecedented for a two-year-old. Interesting, Ron Turcotte's brother Rudy rode entry-mate Angle Light who finished 2nd in the race. Program in excellent condition with no written markings, signed on Stakes page by Ron. VG-EX. Represents the only time Secretariat raced in New Jersey. Secretariat won race by 3 1/2 lengths.
