ADDENUDM: The photo for this lot was switched with Lot 869 in the printed catalog and previously online. It is corrected now.

This spectacular 1973 Triple Crown commemorative print comes from the Secretariat/Meadow Stable Archives as part of the personal collection of his famed owner Penny Chenery. The vintage and very rare published print contains nearly every important element of Big Red's 1973 Triple Crown sweep in an aggregated collection of historic imagery from the time period. The trio of jewels in horse racing's Triple Crown -- the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, Preakness at Pimlico, and Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park -- are each well represented in the impressive piece with finish line photos, official race charts and winner's circle imagery. Along with the assorted photos featuring the three key members of the Meadow Stable -- Ms. Chenery, trainer Lucien Laurin, and jockey Ron Turcotte -- are images of the rest of the team instrumental in Secretariat's unparalleled success on and off the track, including groom Eddie Sweat, exercise rider Charlie Davis, Claiborne Farm's Seth Hancock, Meadow Farm manager Howard Gentry and trusted secretary Elizabeth Ham, who is credited with naming Secretariat. Principal family members are also represented, including Penny's sister Margaret Carmichael, brother Hollis Chenery and husband Jack Tweedy. The informative print also features imagery of each of the three race trophies as well as the coveted triangular Triple Crown trophy itself -- presented to the Meadow connections by New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller following the Belmont Stakes. The framed print measures 25" x 30.5" within its simple hardwood framed and comes with its own individual letter of authenticity from the Secretariat/Meadow Stable Archives. A wonderful nostalgic filled racing artifact from the collection of the "First Lady of Racing" herself.
