Secretariat Memorabilia Collection (99)
From the best racehorse in history, Secretariat, comes this extensive and unique lot of defining items. First, a display with a Penny Tweedy signed 1973 Kentucky Derby Program with some of his hair and a LeRoy Neiman Secretariat print. Display measures 21x21", and the autograph and overall condition is EX-MT. Also, a signed and numbered limited edition print of Secretariat by Richard Stone Reeves #573/7500. The print itself is 23x25" and the overall display is 23.5x29.5". It has fallen in the frame and the tape shows but it is undamaged. Also included is a Lionstone figural decanter commercially sold for winning the 99th Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and the Preakness, all in record times, which still to this day have not been beaten. It still has the liquor inside, and the seal paper along the back, through there is a hairline crack inside the lid, which is very common. Dated 1977 with all the information incised on the bottom, measures approx. 11" high. Secretariat Triple Crown .999 silver medallion on a gold filled chain, Secretariat 1973 Parker pen and pencil set in the box, 1989 Secretariat Christmas Ornament in the box, lot of 70 Memorial 1990 (his death) Secretariat pins, vintage 1973 horse shoe pin on a card, huge vintage photo album of newspaper clippings, photos and articles compiled systematically but with love and respect for this spectacular horse. Album measures 14.5x12" and is 92 pages of reverence and dedication usually limited to rock stars and movie legends, not usually a horse. Worth mentioning is a 1973 Sports Illustrated poster. Twelve periodicals including a Racing Form poster measures 12x18" and NRMT never folded, then 11 magazines either dedicated to Secretariat or with him on the cover. Secretariat June 1973 (dedicated en route to the Triple Crown, special printing by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association) (2), Turf 1975 Secretariat cover, Sports Illustrated 1973 (address label), Time 1973 (address label), Newsweek 1973 (address label), and other periodicals. Overall EX condition on the 12 magazines. Two Johnny Rousan 17x22" vintage prints, 1999 postage stamp poster (large), later 1973 Triple Crown posters, two small Disney Secretariat movie posters. Overall condition of the entire collection is EX-MT.
