Shorty Laurice Brooklyn Dodgers Sym-Phony Band Memorabilia Collection (130 items)

Shorty Laurice Brooklyn Dodgers Sym-Phony Band Memorabilia Collection (130 items)

From the personal collection of Shorty Laurice, Brooklyn Dodger super fan and leader of the famed Brooklyn Dodger Sym-Phony. There is some great stuff here. Of special interest are two compact megaphones, used to by members of the Dodger “Sym-Phony” to exhort the home crowd to ever-greater heights of enthusiasm. The 8 1/2” horns are each emblazoned with “8”, representing Section 8 in the stands, where the Sym-phony performed, and were used in countless games. Seven baseballs are included signed in later years (show Richard the baseballs). There are Old Timers Day signatures of Snider, Owen, Branca, Erskine, Reese, Newcombe, Podres and many other notable Dodgers of the ‘40’s and ‘50’s. There are two game used bats: Bruce Edwards (1947-51) and Skeeter Newsome (Red Sox, 1941); both bats have single holes bored through the handles. There are over 80 press photographs and candid snapshots bringing the “Boys of Summer” to life. More than 30 are signed (many vintage), some with personal inscriptions to Lautrice. The best ones include Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Carl Furillo, and many other greats. Six programs from the 50’s are included, a 1953 World Series program, and a 1957 Dodger yearbook. Eight issues of the “Line Drive” Newsletter (1953-57), and other miscellaneous publications. There are about 20 tickets and passes including several World Series from the 1950s. There is even a 1956 Opening Day Pennant Raising Parade pass. B There are pennants including 1955 (they are a bit rough), PM10 pins of Hodges and Snider, several scrapbook items, and much more more. There is even a dinner program for an event honoring President Harry S. Truman boldly signed on the cover by Truman. This is an utterly unique Dodgers time capsule, the like of which will simply never be seen again. Overall condition very good.
