Sister Antoine - 1960 Gallorette Stakes at Pimlico Sterling Silver Trophy
<p>This beautiful piece was awarded to Sister Antoine in 1960. The Gallorette Stakes started in 1952 and was named after a famous filly. The large sterling silver trophy features handles on each side and a race horse on the removable top piece. It is engraved with the inscription "Maryland Jockey Club, Pimlico, The Gallorette, $15,000 Added, Fillies and Mares, Three Year Olds and Up, December 3 1960, Won by, Sister Antoine, owned by Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs." Stamped "Sterling" underneath. Originally sold in the 2008 Christie's Important American Silver sale featuring the estate of Hall of Fame horse racing owner and trainer Hirsch Jacobs.</p><p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Sourcing straight from the private collection of a world-renowned thoroughbred breeder comes a wonderful offering of nearly 40 horse racing trophies that Lelands is honored to feature in the 2019 Fall Classic. Originally purchased from the 2008 Christie’s Silver Auction, these trophies source from the estate of Ethel and Hirsch Jacobs.
