After running in all three Triple Crown events in 1996, Skip Away went on to win the Ohio Derby and, under the guidance of jockey Jose Santos, proceeded to win the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. Contained in this lot is the trophy presented to Santos upon his ride's victory in that race, dated August 4, 1996. It stands about six inches high by six inches wide, and has the name Skip Away engraved on the name plate. There is some tarnishing around the screw holes on the plate and a couple of dings, but the award is in Very Good condition. Also included is the saddle cloth from that race, measuring 48x38" with "HASKELL" sewn on in tackle twill letters above the screened name "Skip Away," and below the number "2" which is in green with gold trim. The cloth shows some use and is in EX-NRMT condition. Comes with LOA.
