Sliding Billy Hamilton Signature
This 2 1/2 x 4 1/2" sheet carries the nearly unobtainable signature of obscure but highly important Hall of Famer "Sliding" Billy Hamilton, who put the stolen base into baseball. Back in the 1890s, as arguably the game's premier player, he racked up phenomenal steal numbers with the Philadelphia Phillies, including 102 in 1890, 115 the next year when he also won the first of two batting titles with a .340 mark. In '94 he scored 196 runs, a record that may stand forever. His .344 lifetime average is sitxth-best all time, and he's one of only three with more runs scored than games played. He died in 1940 at age 74. The signature in black ink is superb, a perfect 10. Right above is the 9/10 signature of another Hall of Famer of the era, pitcher "Kid" Nichols.
