"Stage Door Johnny" 1968 Belmont Stakes Silver Trophy
One of the most important horse racing trophies of all, and what a race. Stage Door Johnny defeated Forward Pass by a length and a quarter to win the 1968 Belmont Stakes and to wreck his bid for Triple Crown immortality. Regal August Belmont Memorial silver trophy cup from 1968 is engraved, "New York Racing Association, The Belmont, Belmont Park, 1968, won by Greentree Stables Stage Door Johnny" and presented "Groom Charles Carter." Wrapping the trophy is a special design that says it all, trumpeting, "August Belmont Memorial Cup" and the bottom reads "Ensko, Sterling." Measures 6.75" tall in NRMT condition, and comes with an original program. The chance for the last leg in the Triple Crown collecting trifecta.
